The South Molle Island Aboriginal Quarry (pictured below) in the Whitsunday Islands, is a source of stone which has been attributed as the origin of prehistoric artefacts traded along the central Queensland coast. This project aims to undertake a geochemical analysis of the quarry, which will enable me to attribute the stone artefacts located along prehistoric trading routes unequivocally to this source. This will facilitate a nationally significant, broader spatial study of the stone's trade and distribution.
