Conditions of employment
Employment terms and conditions
Terms and conditions of employment at the University are currently governed by the provisions of the USQ Certified Agreement 2005-2008 inclusive of competitive salary rates for both academic and general employees. The University's Staff Consultative Committee is the forum for discussion and consultation in relation to the implementation of the Certified Agreement and other employment related matters. Enterprise bargaining negotiations have commenced for a replacement Agreement.
Working environment
The University offers a variety of employment categories and flexible working arrangements, including a rostered day off scheme for employees where available. USQ ensures that position classification levels are appropriate through formal job evaluation processes and methods.
One of the University's key initiatives for building employee and organisational capability and capacity is the functional job stream framework which identifies each general staff position at the University as belonging to a specified job function and stream with clearly defined knowledge, skills and abilities. The framework has implications for activities such as recruitment, induction, training and development, performance management, career progression and reward and recognition initiatives.
Issues or concerns
Employees are also provided with a mechanism to raise a grievance in relation to internal human resources or related matters, and disciplinary action will be managed in accordance with the provisions of relevant policies and procedures. Employees may also contact the Queensland Ombudsman's Office or the Anti-Discrimination Commission in relation to complaints or concerns.
