Vice-Chancellor's message

Professor Bill Lovegrove

Welcome to USQ!   I applaud your decision to consider joining one of Australia's most dynamic young universities. I want all current and potential employees to know that I believe the University's most valuable asset is the quality and skills of those whom it employs. In acknowledgement of this personal and professional commitment, the University seeks to provide a welcoming, challenging and supportive workplace which recognises, rewards and develops personal, professional and organisational effort and success.

I believe that the most important thing that I and my senior management colleagues can do is to empower individual employees to achieve their goals and objectives within a framework which is consistent with the strategic direction and sustainability of the University as a whole. I encourage all employees to share in the vision of the University as a leader in open and flexible education, as a University committed to the regions in which it operates and as a University providing the highest quality educational opportunities towards fulfilling lives.

I believe that the Vice-Chancellor's role includes the need to be available to employees, to be seen by employees and to be willing to listen to the views of the employees. I am not always available at the minute that individuals might wish to talk to me, but I encourage everyone to always feel able to consult with me on issues which are of importance to them.

USQ employees pride themselves on the excellence of the contribution they make to USQ. Our University is only as good as the people it has working for it and with it and as such I am dedicated to supporting employees to achieve their goals in a healthy, safe and supportive environment. Our reputation as a leading regional university is largely a result of our employees' commitment and teamwork.

Working in a regional university also brings employees and students much closer to the community than is sometimes possible in larger metropolitan areas. Employees and students are playing an increasingly important role in ensuring that Toowoomba, Fraser Coast and Springfield are truly university cities.

Once again, thank you for considering a career at USQ and the many benefits it can provide. I wish you every success in the future.
