Maria

Two study disciplines for a unique career path
Maria is standing in the Japanese Garden, UniSQ Toowoomba, smiling at the camera.

This Chilean student and qualified tourism guru is on a path to study nursing in Australia to complement her tourism skills and be a unique resource when it comes to medical emergencies in tourism operations.

For Maria, a UniSQ Australian study experience is placing her on the path for a unique career, whilst giving her the opportunity to improve her English.

'Australia offers so many opportunities and is a great place to study. I have also lived in other countries and the weather here, for the most part, is rather comfortable. Maria has embarked on UniSQ’s intensive English language program to then go on to study a Bachelor of Nursing.

'At first, I was so shocked by the difference in culture. The UniSQ teachers really took their time with me, helping me by providing assistance, and being available to offer explanations and help me with my English. My study is very important to me and I want to remain focused to do my best for my future career.'

Maria arrived to UniSQ Toowoomba and received a campus tour to understand the services available. She also gained great support from one of her English classmates. They learnt about the city of Toowoomba together and integrated into the local Latino community.

Maria now lives in Brisbane with her partner and will take the second part of her intensive English studies at UniSQ Springfield.
