Queensland Institute of Technology Darling Downs
The Queensland Institute of Technology Darling Downs (QITDD) opened for business with 18 staff and 140 students.

First graduation ceremony
The first graduation ceremony was held for 25 students.

Darling Downs Institute of Advanced Education
The Queensland Institute of Technology Darling Downs becomes the Darling Downs Institute of Advanced Education (DDIAE).

First postgraduate offering
Graduate Diploma in Teaching is the first postgraduate degree to be offered.

Research centres established in areas including water and soil, science and human performance.

Off-shore external offerings
Off-shore external offering of Business Studies commences in Hong Kong.

University College of Southern Queensland
The Darling Downs Institute of Advanced Education becomes the University College of Southern Queensland (UCSQ).

Kumbari/Ngurpai Lag Higher Education Centre
Kumbari/Ngurpai Lag Higher Education Centre established as an autonomous unit.

University of Southern Queensland
The University of Southern Queensland (USQ) is established.
1997
USQ Wide Bay campus
USQ Wide Bay campus (later USQ Fraser Coast) and City Precinct developed in collaboration with the Hervey Bay Council.
2000
University of the Year
Good Universities Guide "University of the Year" for 2000-2001 awarded to USQ for leadership in developing the e-University.
2006
USQ Springfield campus
USQ Springfield campus opens, heralding the start of USQ's "Western Corridor strategy".
2007
Queensland College of Wine and Tourism
Queensland College of Wine and Tourism (QCWT) established at Stanthorpe.
2013
USQ launches new Research Plan
USQ launches new Research Plan and significantly increases investment in research.
2015
USQ Ipswich campus
USQ acquires Ipswich campus from University of Queensland, greatly enhancing our presence in the Western Corridor.

USQ celebrates its 50th year as a higher education provider and 25th year as a university.
