Acknowledging sources: referencing
What needs to be referenced?
Provide a reference (citation) whenever you:
- paraphrase, summarise or quote someone else’s work
- print, images, statistics, computer programs, electronic media and creative works
- information you use in tables and figures
You don’t need to reference:
- descriptions of your own observations and experiences
- information that is widely known (common knowledge)
