Negative numbers and absolute value
Subtraction involving negative numbers
- Subtracting a positive number produces a smaller number, for example \(-4 - 3 = -7 \) and \( 3 - 5 = -2\).
- Subtracting a negative number is the same as adding the number, for example, \(3-(-5) = 3+5 = 8, \) and \(-4-(-3) = -4+3 = -1\).
