Completion requirements for all Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Students
USQ students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education or Master of Learning and Teaching program will be required to successfully complete both components of the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) to be eligible graduate. From 2021, students commencing either program will be required to complete LANTITE before the following placement:
- Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) - ECF3100 Contemporary Approaches to Infant and Toddler Curriculum and Pedagogy.
- Bachelor of Education (Primary) - EPP3100 Practising as a Professional Teacher 1.
- Bachelor of Education (Secondary) - ESP2200 Senior Secondary Curriculum and Pedagogy.
- Master of Education (Early Childhood) (Primary) & (Secondary) – successful completion prior to enrolling in EDM8100 Evidence of Learning in Teaching
Bachelor of Education students who enrolled in 2019 or prior will need to complete LANTITE before being eligible to graduate.
Master of Education students who enrolled in 2020 or prior will need to complete LANTITE before being eligible to graduate.
USQ LANTITE preparation and support resources can be found on MyIT.
The LANTITE tests are administered by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). You are required to register directly with ACER. Test results will be released to USQ and uploaded against your student profile.
ACER facilitate only four Test sittings a year, we suggest you plan and allow 12 months for the successful completion of LANTITE.
Results are released from ACER after each test window and uploaded against your student profile. Students who have not achieved standard are provided support as outlined under LANTITE support.
All students can access web based LANTITE support and resources on the MyIT site.
Student’s identified as not achieved standard after their 2nd and 3rd attempt will be assigned LANTITE liaison support. Please see the below LANTITE support triangle for further information.
Each jurisdiction (State or Territory) has sought to comply with the national requirements in slightly different ways. In some States and Territories, ITE students are required to complete LANTITE to register as a teacher, while in other States and Territories, Universities are asked to ensure that the LANTITE is passed before graduation, prior to registering as a teacher. It is recommended if seeking teacher registration outside of Queensland, ITE students check with their State or Territory registering body to confirm their requirements.
