Costs and scholarships
There are limited Erasmus+ grants, generously provided by the European Union’s Erasmus program, available to eligible students applying to study for a semester at the University of Trento in Italy and Justus Liebig University in Giessen, Germany worth up to EUR 5750 (approx.. AUD 9000 each). Find out more at the above pages.
The OS-HELP loan provides financial assistance to eligible Australian students wishing to study overseas while receiving credit towards their degree.

The New Colombo Plan Scholarship Program program provides opportunities for Australian undergraduates, aged 18 to 30 to undertake trimester-based or equivalent study in participating Indo-Pacific locations. These scholarships are awarded once per year and students compete against multiple interested participants from other Australian universities.
The New Colombo Plan Scholarship consists of:
- a travel allowance of up to AUD 3000
- an establishment allowance of up to AUD 3000
- a monthly stipend (for study and internship/mentorship) of up to AUD 3000 per month
- health and travel insurance for the duration of the program.
Other benefits may include:
- Payment of up to one academic year of tuition fees payable to the host institution (if required) to the value of AUD 20 000
- An Asian language training allowance payable to the language institution (if applicable) to the value of AUD 10 000.
Eligibility
You must:
- be an Australian Citizen
- have achieved a minimum 5.5 GPA for your undergraduate course to date
- be between 18 and 30 years old (inclusive) for non-Indigenous applicants or between 18 and 35 years of age (inclusive) for Indigenous applicants on 1 January 2025
- be enrolled at UniSQ in a bachelor degree or bachelor honours degree
- be eligible to study for one or two trimesters at an Indo-Pacific university and receive credit towards your degree
- provide evidence of demonstrated leadership in the community.

Application
Expressions of Interest for the 2025 NCP Scholarship round are open. Please complete the expression of interest nomination form by 29 March 2024.
As a UniSQ student participating in Study Abroad or a Semester-long Exchange Program you will be required to pay for your:
- tuition fees or student contribution to UniSQ (exchange), or tuition fees to the host university (Study Abroad)
- accommodation fees to the host university or accommodation provider
- Overseas Student Health Cover
- visa application fees
- travel insurance
- flights and transport
- personal spending money and other associated living costs.
There are limited DACKEP grants, generously provided by the Cheung Kong Group, available to eligible students applying to study for a trimester/s at Akita International University in Japan, Inha University in South Korea or Mahidol University in Thailand, worth up to AUD 7690.
