Career planning and advice

The Careers & Employability Team offer one-on-one career planning sessions. We can help you to understand how your values, attributes and life experiences contribute to your career goals.

Within our sessions, we can help you to:

  • develop career management skills
  • set goals and strategies to help you with your career decisions
  • make sound career decisions and set directions
  • discover resources to support career decisions and actions
  • plan for employment after graduation.

Appointment method and booking instructions 

Before booking your first appointment, you will be required to complete a Client Details Form

Method Description Booking instructions
In person counselling  A face-to-face career counselling session. These sessions are available on our Toowoomba, Ipswich and Springfield campuses. Your initial appointment will be for 20 minutes. If a follow up appointment is required, an hour session will be made available.

Phone counselling Available to students who would like to speak to a Practitioner over the phone. Our practitioners will contact you on the number provided at your booking. Your initial appointment will be for 20 minutes. If a follow up appointment is required, an hour session will be made available. Book online

Video counselling

A face-to-face counselling session via Zoom. A variation is audio counselling, which uses the same platform, but without video. You will receive a link to access the video counselling session at the time of your appointment. Your initial appointment will be for 20 minutes. If a follow up appointment is required, an hour session will be made available.
*Please note if booking online, these appointments are ‘Skype’ appointments on our booking system however we do not use Skype to run the session.

Live Chat counselling Offering students the chance to chat with a Practitioner (Wellness Educator or Career Practitioner) about their personal challenges through typed live chat, and a Practitioner responds via typed Live Chat.  Contact us for instructions
Email counselling  When a student emails a Practitioner their personal challenges or career questions, and the Practitioner responds within 72 business hours where possible.  Contact us for instructions
