USQ Phoenix Central provides leadership workshops each semester designed to help you develop and refine your leadership skills. It’s free to participate and the workshops are available to you whether you are studying online or on-campus. We have three action packed workshops for you each week following the mid-semester break.
Phoenix Award participants receive 20 points per workshop attended.
Leadership Workshop 6: Managing conflict and capitalising on difference

You will be introduced to five different approaches for managing conflict. You will also be introduced to four realms of identity which will help you to understand the complexity of individual's identity.

Leadership Workshop 5: Listening and responding effectively
You will be introduced to various listening techniques and models to develop your effective listening skills. You will also learn techniques on how to respond effectively to communicate your message as a leader.
Leadership Workshop 4: Coaching and inspiring others
You will be introduced to developing peer coaching skills with creative thinking to strengthen the goal-setting process. You will also be provided the opportunity to define what inspiration means to you and how you can apply this when leading others.
Leadership Workshop 3: Communicating Effectively
Communicating Effectively will provide an introduction on the topic communication through leadership and allows you to looks at your strengths and areas of growth in your own ways of communicating. You'll be introduced to the Communication Theory and Professional Practice, non-verbal communication and have the opportunity to reflect on your own experiences with communication.
Leadership Workshop 2: The Secrets to Successful Teamwork
Teamwork is a crucial part of a successful team. Uncover some of the secrets to working within and leading a team. We will be exploring different aspects of teamwork and will provide you with activities to help you think about how you already work within a team environment and ways to increase your growth in this area.
Leadership Workshop 1: Introduction to Leadership
Introduction to Student Leadership provides an introduction on the topic of leadership and allows you to looks at your strengths and areas of growth in your own leadership journey. You'll be introduced to the Emotionally Intelligent Leadership model and have the opportunity to reflect on your own leadership experiences. By exploring different facets of leadership, you will be able to determine the importance of each to effective leadership.
