Student Social Meets are a fantastic opportunity to connect with other students; from wherever and whatever you study; allowing you to find friends, build networks, and receive support.
It's common to feel isolated when you're studying online, and even on campus. Through Student Social Meets, you can overcome these feelings and find yourself connected to the university community, from wherever you are. Attending a Meet is also a great opportunity to develop your communication skills.
We run a variety of Social Meets, including Interest-Based (for students who like or have a particular interest, e.g. photography, travel, sport), New Student (meet other students who are starting at USQ), All Student (meet other students from any study area), Course and Discipline (meet other students who are studying the same things you are) and International.
In each Social Meet you will have short, face-to-face conversations with a number of other students. Each Social Meet runs up to an hour, but you need to arrive at or just before the event start time. Our friendly hosts will guide you through the session, and even provide you with all the questions you will need!
Most of our sessions are run using an online platform so you can get involved from the comfort of your own home.
For the session you will need:
- an internet connection (recommended bandwidth - 1.5Mbps up and down)
- a computer (Mac or Windows) or a smartphone (iOS or Android)
- a working webcam and microphone - can be built in
- working headphones (speakers can cause issues with the sound)
- a positive attitude - this is going to be awesome!
