THIS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN CANCELLED
Even in the evolution of writing there has been a hierarchy of letterforms from beautiful and intricate illuminated initials right down to the book-hand of the day.
In this workshop you will study prime specimen manuscripts that show this hierarchy and we’ll take a hands-on approach to create similar examples from carefully chosen works of the 10th, 11th and 12th centuries.
You will pen, paint and draw letters and images. Gemma will guide you on a variety of compositions culminating in little works on paper. These works will be both traditional as well as having a modern spin on the “hierarchy of the scripts”.
