Prize Information
If you are a high school student in Years 9 -12, it is time to put your pen to paper or fingers to keys and try your hand at songwriting.
Enter a song or two for your chance to win a prize pool valued at over $1700, including:
- $1000 worth of music equipment, products or services of your choice,
- Registration in the 2021 McGregor Summer Music Retreat, held in January 2021 at USQ Toowoomba. - Valued at $695.
- Registration at one of USQ's Two-Day Music Experiences held in July or September at USQ Springfield, including an opportunity to have your song recorded in our TV & Radio facilities - Valued at $50
In addition to the overall winner there will be two runners-up, these runners up will win:
- A prominent songwriting text and a $200 gift voucher to a music store of your choice.
- Registration at one of USQ's Two-Day Music Experiences held in July or September at USQ Springfield - Valued at $50
Before entering, remember to read the terms and conditions and our helpful how-to-enter guide to make sure your submission is correct.
- Write your song and provide us with the lyrics and a simple vocal track performed by you or someone else. You may choose to add basic piano, acoustic guitar or use computer software if you like. We don't require sheet music, the most important factor here is that your recording clearly and accurately communicates your song (lyrics, melody, chords, rhythm and form). Please refer to Clause 9 in the terms and conditions for more information.
- To enter you need to provide your full name, year level, school, contact number, confirm that if you are under 18 you have your parents/guardians permission to enter, and upload a word document with your lyrics and your audio recording embedded in the document. - Remember, you and your parents/guardians need to read and accept the terms and conditions before you submit your entry.
The 2020 Get Songwriting Prize opens on Monday 2 March. To be eligible to enter you must be a high school student in Years 9-12, with your parents or guardians permission. The competition is free and you can submit up to two songs. Please view the full terms and conditions and read our how to enter information before entering the competition. The competition will close on Monday 15 June 2020 at 4.00pm.
