Ceramist, Kris Lyon, travelled to Tuscany in 2019 for an artist-in-residency program. In a truly immersive experience and magical setting close to magnificent cities, beautiful mountainside villages, olive groves and vineyards, the artist responded to her surroundings, making a series of small dwellings to acknowledge the many centuries of humanity who continue to build, live and work on top of Etruscan and Roman ruins.
The artist’s abiding interest and research into histories, cultures, architecture, texture and patina show through in a further development of the ceramic work made at La Macina di San Cresci near Greve-in-Chianti, Tuscany.
