'Did you know?' community talk - Telling the stories of war: two views

There is a renewed interest in the study of war, and telling these stories is a sensitive, emotional and inspiring process. This talk will look at two different views, methods, mediums and purposes for telling these stories of conflict – interactive documentary and visual art installation.
When
18 MAR 2021
5.30 PM - 6.30 PM
Where
Alexandra Lawson Gallery, 482 Ruthven Street, Toowoomba and via Zoom

Filmmaker and Lecturer (Film and Screen Production), Dr Leonie Jones will explore the use of interactive documentary and oral history to tell complex and complicated factual stories of war and trauma.

Artist and Senior Lecturer (Painting and Art Theory) Dr Kyle Jenkins’ installation, Take Me Away to Bring Me Home on Jack Flynn Memorial Drive is a very visible tribute to World War Two soldier, Jack Flynn. Kyle will share how the story of Jack Flynn and the location of the installation influenced the design.
