The day will commence at the USQ Ipswich Campus where you will hear from USQ academics and professional staff on program updates, industry insights and take part in a campus tour of some of our key facilities. You will make your own way over to the USQ Springfield Campus for lunch, a campus tour and to hear from Col McCowan OAM, PhD student with the Australian Collaboratory for Career Employability & Learning for Living (ACCELL) at USQ, speak on the topic 'Developing career measures to facilitate evidence-based practice'.
Recently, Col has been developing a suite of career education and development (CED) scales for use across primary and secondary schools. In this session he will outline the importance and effectiveness of CED and the need for evidence-based practice. He will take us through how he melded practice, theory, research and scientific enquiry to develop the scales and his progress to date on achieving a valid and reliable measure for use in Grade 10, 11 and 12. The session will end with a story about the ups and downs of developing and implementing a sophisticated Grade 9 career program across all Mongolia in a couple of weeks!
