BACHELOR OF CREATIVE ARTS
BACHELOR OF CREATIVE ARTS (HONOURS)
DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PHD)
NOW I’M DOING WHAT
I’M MEANT TO BE DOING
After finishing high school I worked as a flour miller, a jewellery technician and even a soldier in the Army Reserve. Varied, I know … I guess I lacked direction.
I was always interested in the arts and after a lot of encouragement from my friends who studied similar degrees, I finally decided to apply. USQ Toowoomba was an easy choice, as I know the city and the arts community on-campus had a great vibe.
Since finishing my honours my career has been unpredictably exciting. I’ve had the opportunity to exhibit my work in France, Iceland, Denmark and Sweden. I’ve engaged with other artists, like the art restoration professional at The Louvre who told me that it’s our job as artists to create work that scares us. Now I’m developing my practice through my PhD. I’m working on an Auschwitz memorial in Brisbane after interviewing holocaust survivors while I was in Europe.
It’s been a highly rewarding journey and when I look back I’m so glad I mustered up the courage to take the first step. I’ve found my place.
