As CEO of Goondiwindi Regional Council, covering a massive geographical region of almost 20,000km2, Mr Manton manages hundreds of staff to implement wide-ranging local government operations in the area.

On top of this responsibility, Mr Manton has added a new qualification to his professional CV – a Juris Doctor from the University of Southern Queensland (USQ).

He’ll join about 600 USQ Faculty of Business, Education, Law and Arts students who will be attending their graduation ceremonies at the Clive Berghofer Recreation Centre on Friday (April 13).

Mr Manton already holds a Bachelor of Business and Master of Business Administration (specialising in Business Law) from USQ, complementing his 20 years’ experience in local government.

The father of two said the upcoming graduation would provide recognition for the effort required to further his education while balancing the needs of work and family.

“It has been an enjoyable learning experience supported by fellow students and staff of USQ,” Mr Manton said.

“I have developed a stronger business acumen when dealing with complex business issues.”

Friday’s ceremonies will recognise soon-to-be-graduates from the study disciplines of Business & Commerce, Information Technology, Law & Justice, Creative Arts & Media, Education and Humanities & Communication.

The following week, almost 450 students will celebrate their graduation at the Faculty of Health, Engineering and Sciences ceremonies (April 20).
