Information for the USQ community on Coronavirus

USQ’s top priority is the ongoing safety of staff, students and our local communities. The University’s management team continues to monitor and review regular advice from health authorities in relation to the novel coronavirus.

On 1 February 2020, the Australian Government updated advice for people who have recently returned to Australia from mainland China based on the latest and best medical advice. Read the latest advice.

USQ has updated arrangements for some students and staff returning to work or study in the coming weeks based on this advice.

The isolation requirements for Universities outlined by the Australian Government are:

  • Students and staff who have arrived in the past 14 days from Hubei Province will need to self-isolate for 14 days from the day that they departed Hubei Province.
  • Students and staff who have arrived from other provinces of mainland China on or after 1 February 2020 will need to self-isolate for 14 days from the day they departed mainland China.
  • Students and staff who have arrived from other provinces of mainland China prior to 1 February 2020 do not need to self-isolate.
  • Students and staff who have arrived from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, unless they have been in Hubei Province in the past 14 days or in any part of mainland China on or after 1 February 2020, do not need to self-isolate.

Consistent with previous advice, students or staff who have been in close contact with a confirmed case of novel coronavirus, must self-isolate for 14 days after last contact with the confirmed case.
