The generosity of cultural gift donors ensures that institutions like USQ can continue to grow their collections.
In 2015, USQ was the recipient of a large collection from former Maroochy Shire Council mayor Joe Natoli.
This Framed Fridays brings you one of those works; Warm Doorways by Ralph Wilson.
Born in Brisbane, Wilson studied architecture between 1973-1974.
In 1983 he was awarded the Camberwell Rotary travelling scholarship and travelled to London, Paris, and New York, finally working in Italy between 1986 and 1990.
His work is held in numerous collections including Artbank, The Brisbane Club, and Museum of Brisbane.
His stunning landscape and architectural paintings echo the understanding of his past studies, married beautifully with a mastery of light and shadow that seem to dance across the surface of the painting.
The tension of perspective, alongside the subtle use of colour, come together to create a memorable piece of the USQ Art Collection.
