USQ expert celebrates National Organic Week

It's National Organic Week and researchers from the University of Southern Queensland are taking the potential of organic waste to another level.

THE POTENTIAL OF ORGANC WASTE FROM LIVESTOCK

 It's National Organic Week.

While every day consumers are embracing the benefits of compost and other organic practices, researchers from the University of Southern Queensland are taking the potential of organic waste to another level by investigating the amount generated from major intensive livestock industries in Australia - and the estimated amount of energy that could be recovered and converted into biogas.

• USQ Postdoctoral Research Fellow Dr Peter Harris can explain the co-operative approach to waste management in major livestock industries that could satisfy nearly 80% of their combined energy demands and offset fossil fuel consumption.
