NEW PATTERN BRINGS WET WEATHER SHIFT

Storms are a well-known hallmark of the warmer seasons, but this year it feels they have come early. As Queensland emerges from days of heavy rain and New South Wales braces for more, experts are predicting a shift to a climate pattern known as La Nina.

  • Climate expert Dr Christa Pudmenzky is on hand to speak about the La Nina phenomenon and how it could increase the chance of rain if it develops. She says this, combined with a number of frontal systems, can increase the possibility of flooding in areas that have received substantial rain this week. Media contact: Alexia Austin 0491 022 303.
