Organisations have existed for centuries to reduce the uncertainty during the exchange of good and services. Business models define how organisations reduce this uncertainty, capture and deliver value to its customers. Technology plays a greater role within organisations and technological innovation can provide organisations with a competitive advantage and improve efficiency. 

Technology innovation is reducing the barriers to adoption and reducing the time to market. Further research can be undertaken into the ability of this technology to create a more technologically advanced organisation and the impact this has on its business model. Key researchers across the different disciplines acknowledge additional empirical research is required to understand the specific interdependencies between the business model, technology and success.
