Using an inductive case study approach, this research project will explore the factors that influence employee engagement for staff working in shared services teams in a regional university context. Organisations are often motivated to move to shared services models to realise the reported cost savings, leverage human resources, improve outputs, and influence service environments. Whilst there is an emerging body of literature in the shared services field little attention has been paid to the experiences of professional staff working in such teams. This study will seek to address this limitation which will provide valuable insight into a limited area of research adding value to the research fields of employee engagement, shared services environments and regional universities respectively.
