Educational technology has the potential to impact student learning in a variety of ways. The type of impact is determined by the knowledge and skill teachers have in implementing the use of educational technologies in their classrooms. This research is designed to determine how targeted support and professional learning, through a TPACK lens, can improve teachers’ confidence and competence in using educational technologies in their classroom so that it can have a positive impact on student learning. The rural context of the participants will also provide an added perspective to the research, especially in terms of access to appropriate professional learning opportunities. Data will be collected using a mixed methods approach including qualitative and quantitative tools to provide perspectives from teachers, parents and students. The results will help to determine to what extent teachers’ confidence and competence with digital technologies can impact student learning
