A preventative policing model requires a fundamental shift in how daily operations within policing are conducted and will require centres to coordinate this change. Both the airline and law enforcement industries are currently exploring MAS technology with the capability to gather IoT data to better inform operational decision makers for real-time resource allocation in operation centres. The use of IoT data, or sensory information to create a wholistic understanding of an organisation’s operating environment is the subject of considerable research. Intelligence Fusion centres are an example of the aggregation of data to create this understanding. Unfortunately, these centres are only looking at investigative information and knowledge sharing as opposed to the day to day operations of a department from a business perspective.
