This project aims to establish a new delivery mechanism for micronutrient Zn, using carbon nanodots in order to biofortify Rice. Foliar application of carbon nanodots and Zn bound carbon nanodots will be used in the study to determine their effect on physiological and genetic level response of the rice plants. Transportation pathway of the nanomaterials inside the rice plants too will be investigated. Effect of nanoparticles on the bioavailability of Zn in rice grains will also be determined in order to evaluate the adaptability of the proposed novel delivery method for micronutrients in bio-fortification of rice.
