Promoting Language Development through an Audience Response System among English as Foreign Language Learners.
This study aims to investigate the effects of an audience response system (ARS) on language development and cognitive abilities of English as foreign language (EFL) learners at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), United Arab Emirates (UAE). The study incorporates active learning and inquiry-based learning into lessons using Nearpod (an ARS tool) that allows learners to answer questions individually or in groups in line with the social constructivist theory. Approximately eighty Emirati female learners will participate in the study using a mixed-methods design with an experimental group and a control group. The results of the study will indicate the degree of language development and engagement using Nearpod as the experimental group intervention.
