Assurance of Learning: Investigating UbD Principles and Processes to Develop a Course Design Framework for Educators to Evidence Pedagogical Decisions in Higher Education
The higher education sector is now experiencing stringent requirements from Tertiary Education Quality Standards Agency (TESQA) to evidence the Higher Education Standards Framework (HESF) Threshold Standards. University educators are expected to produce and also evidence pedagogically sound courses, with quality student learning experiences and outcomes. This project will investigate the Understanding by Design principles and process to identify congruent elements that will inform the development of a course design framework. The framework bridges the gap between program design and development, and course development. The intent of the course design framework is to capture educator’s pedagogical decisions and contribute to fulfilling the requirement of the HESF (Threshold) Standard Teaching, Course design.
