Given the growing body of evidence supporting the use of trauma informed care practices in health care settings, there has been a burgeoning literature on the use of such practices in school environments. The present research aims to review the evidence for the emerging models and programs for trauma informed practices in secondary school settings. This research aims to: (a) Conceptualise trauma-informed practice in secondary school educational settings in a systematic literature review, and (2) Understand the learning needs of mainstream secondary school teachers with regard to trauma informed pedagogical practices. This document will provide a brief overview of the research literature, and will outline the proposed program of research. The findings of the research will contribute to support the use of trauma-informed practices in secondary school settings, inform robust evaluations of trauma-informed education programs and improve the educational outcomes for all students.
