This study proposes to address the issue of some Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers who engage in illicit drug use. The study aims to explore the behaviours and attitudes of officers detected using illicit drugs, to better understand the nature of the problem, and the relationship between the problem and organisational drug policy designed to deter such behaviour. Secondary data will be gathered surrounding investigations of individuals and/or groups of QPS officers implicated in illicit drug use. Case study analysis will be used to identify themes. This might include normalisation of illicit drug use, separating off-duty conduct, or cumulative exposure to critical incidents. These themes will inform the development of a framework to best prevent and disrupt the problem.
