Many healthcare supply chain processes are manual due to complexity, costs and a lack of appropriate digital solutions. Specifically, small to medium sized healthcare providers struggle to utilise information systems (IS) in their supply and procurement management. The clinical safety impact of manual supply chains has been explored in the literature. Therefore, digital transformation of the healthcare supply chain has the potential to improve clinical safety, however, the extent of which is yet to be addressed in the literature. The research proposal addresses this gap through the following research question: How can digital transformation of the healthcare supply chain increase clinical safety?
