Planning for the Closing of Projects
In environments like Oil and Gas exploration, in which the scope and duration of projects can be uncertain, managing project closure can be a complex process. Issues include an uncertain project duration, resourcing required , and changes during execution. Therefore, project closure may be extended, require more resources than necessary, or represent a series of partial closings of what was originally proposed. Understanding the issues in the project delivery process and obtaining improved information about project activities can be valuable in generating strategies leading to improvements in the project closure process. This research project therefore aims to improve planning for this process through identifying the factors that are likely to the influence variations in project planning, execution and closure.
