Hands on. Introduction to Linux is a 3-hour workshop for beginner users working with the High Performance Computing, Remote Server and Virtual Machine environments. It is part of the series of HPC 101, HPC102 and version control with the command line.

Introduction to Linux is a 3-hour workshop for beginner users working with the High Performance Computing, Remote Server and Virtual Machine environments. 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn how to work with the command line
  • Navigate files and directories
  • Create files and directories
  • Learn basic shell scripting

 

Before the workshop please make sure you have access to a terminal or also called command line.

We recommend you to have or request access to the USQ HPC.

If you have a Mac or Linux system you already have a terminal. If you have a Windows system you can install Git for Windows https://gitforwindows.org/
