Abstract: An important part of doctoral students progressing their writing and research project is the ability to synthesise and articulate the focus of their study, why it matters, how to address the issue and the value of the study to the field (Common Ground; Complication; Concern; Course of Action; Contribution). Unfortunately, many students struggle with this process, with the result being a roadblock or a continuous cycle of circling around the phenomenon. The 5 C’s offers a thinking tool and common language for both student and supervisor that affords for the framing of a thesis, abstract or paper.
We will also follow up on the learning from our last session on timely completion and there will be news of important surveys needing your input.
