In 2021, USQ will offer a number of USQ Incarcerated Student Bursaries to support incarcerated students that are commencing or continuing an undergraduate program at USQ, by assisting them with the purchase of required texts and other educational resources.
The funding provided for this scholarship aims to ensure that Australians from low SES backgrounds, regional and remote areas of Australia and Indigenous student who have the ability to study at university the opportunity to do so. It allows universities to undertake activities and implement strategies to improve access to undergraduate courses for these groups, as well as improving the retention and completion rates of those students.
Each bursary is for a maximum of three semesters (Semesters 1, 2 and 3) and will be paid per semester based on enrolment and subject to ongoing eligibility.
The bursary will open again for applications in Semester 2 for those students who did not apply or who did not receive the bursary in the previous semester. Students who received the bursary in Semester 1 do not need to reapply.
Payment in Semester 3 is based on being awarded the bursary in either Semester 1 or Semester 2, as the bursary will not open for applications in Semester 3.
There are a limited number of bursaries available in 2021.
