USQ KickStart Bursary - New Zealand and Pasifika Students

Applicants must:

• be a New Zealand citizen or be of Pacific Island descent (Pasifika) and not be an Australian Citizen
• be commencing their studies at USQ in an associate or bachelor's degree program in Semester 1 2020 
• have a minimum of sound level of academic achievement (from outside USQ e.g. school, TAFE)
• be enrolled in a minimum of 3 undergraduate-level study units in the semester the bursary is awarded for the full-time award; or
• be enrolled in 1 or 2 undergraduate-level study units in the semester the bursary is awarded for the part-time award
• be taking at least 1 USQ study unit (for students undertaking cross-institutional studies)
• not be a sponsored student, or in receipt of another award
• be studying on-campus, external or online

Applicants must:

• submit a personal statement (one page maximum) answering the following question:
  • What influenced and motivated you to choose your intended study program at USQ and how you see yourself as a future professional within this field?
• provide evidence of academic achievement as directed in the application process:
  • high school report card or post-secondary academic history (transcript of results) from outside USQ, e.g. school, TAFE.
• provide evidence of financial hardship as directed in the application process
• provide evidence of your New Zealand citizenship or Pacific Island descent, e.g. passport, birth certificate

Students undertaking cross-institutional studies must also provide evidence of enrolment from their second institution, as directed in the application process, by uploading an unofficial academic transcript, current as at date of scholarship application.

Applicants may also meet one or more of the following criteria:

• Regional and remote students – have a permanent address in or have relocated to study from a regional or remote area - refer Doctor Connect map
• Student from a Non-English Speaking Background (NESB)
• Student with a disability or ongoing medical condition that impacts their studies
• First in family to attend university – refer to the required Statutory Declaration which must be witnessed by a person qualified to do so (refer to list on page 2 of declaration)
