Overview

  • This degree is ideal for those who may have left school, but want to sample a range of university subjects before starting a more specialised degree.
  • Study courses chosen from a mix of humanities, social science, biological sciences, physical sciences, environment and sustainability, business/commerce, engineering and spatial science and can use your studies to transfer to another degree if/when you choose a specialisation.

Entry requirements

To study this degree, we assume you have sound knowledge in:

  • English
  • Depending on your area of interest, some majors or disciplines may require further assumed knowledge.

We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to four semesters at high school level (Years 11 and 12) with sound achievement (4, SA).

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

If you have previously studied in your home country, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.

Degree structure

To complete this degree students must complete 24 units. Most courses (similar to ‘subjects’) are valued at 1 unit. To study full-time you would usually complete 4 units per semester.

Note: You will need to consult the Program Coordinator in planning your course selections to gain approval for your study plan. The 20 electives can be taken from all course levels, but you cannot take more than eight (8) extra level 1 courses in addition to the core courses. At least four (4) level 3 courses must be selected.
