  • Start your USQ journey with our Certificate of University Studies. If you are wanting to progress your studies in a simple step by step manner then this program is perfect for you.
  • USQ’s Certificate of University Studies gives you a university qualification after just four courses.
  • It will prepare you for higher education studies and the professional workplace, and will allow you to continue your studies into an undergraduate program, or a Foundation Diploma program.

Further study

When you successfully complete your certificate, you will be ready to pursue most undergraduate degrees on offer at USQ, including a Diploma of University Studies.

Career outcomes

  • As part of this program, you will study mathematics, academic English, digital skills and successful study strategies, providing you with the confidence to follow your dream career.
  • As a stepping stone to further study, receive a USQ qualification and be eligible for direct entry into USQ’s Diploma of University studies and selected USQ undergraduate degrees.

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Degree structure

To complete this degree students must complete 4 units. Most courses (similar to ‘subjects’) are valued at 1 unit. To study full-time you would usually complete 4 units per semester.

Once accepted into the degree, you will need to complete the diagnostic exercises (PDF 382KB) in mathematics, e-literacy, and English communication skills to assist staff in determining your level of reading comprehension, written expression, and mathematical understanding.

The closing dates for applying directly to USQ are:

  • Semester 1, 2020 - applications close Friday 6 March, with semester 1 commencing on Monday 24 February 2020.
  • Semester 2, 2020 - applications close Friday 24 July, with semester 2 commencing on Monday 13 July 2020.
  • Semester 3, 2020 - applications close Friday 20 November, with semester 3 commencing on Monday 16 November 2020.
