Overview

  • Even if you haven’t completed high school or are new to study altogether, USQ’s Diploma of University Studies can assist you with getting your dream career.
  • This specialisation will introduce you to engineering at a university education level.
  • You will be able to complete courses which will strengthen your skills in problem solving, mathematics and physics. You will also be able to choose specific engineering courses that suit your interests.

Further study

As a graduate of this program, you will be eligible to apply for direct entry into a range of USQ undergraduate engineering degrees including the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Engineering Science. If you choose to go on to further studies some subjects that you choose could also count as credit toward your undergraduate degree.

  • Additional study within this field can further develop your skills and career opportunities.
  • Possible careers include engineering assistant, engineering technician, estimator, cadet drafter, project officer and engineering technician.

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Degree structure

To complete this degree students must complete 8 units. Most courses (similar to ‘subjects’) are valued at 1 unit. To study full-time you would usually complete 4 units per semester.

Once accepted into the degree, you will need to complete the diagnostic exercises (PDF 382KB) in mathematics, e-literacy, and English communication skills to assist staff in determining your level of reading comprehension, written expression, and mathematical understanding.

  • Semester 2, 2021 - applications close Monday 12 July, with semester 2 commencing on Monday 12 July, 2021.
  • Semester 3, 2021 - applications close Monday 15 November, with semester 3 commencing on Monday 15 November, 2021.
