Do you have a passion for making a difference? The Doctor of Health is a research degree designed for health professionals seeking a doctoral qualification in a health-related field.
USQ is rated well above world standards in pharmacology and pharmaceutical sciences, medical and health sciences and therefore you will study alongside internationally-renowned health researchers. This program incorporates scientific and/or industry collaboration which will provide opportunities for research and knowledge development in health related areas. The aim of this doctoral degree is to advance your theoretical and conceptual understanding of issues faced in the health sector and equip you with skills to identify and solve these challenges.
As a doctoral student, you will also contribute to the outstanding research produced at the University of Southern Queensland through an individual research paper, publication, and scientific or industry collaborations.

Scholarships and financial assistance
You may be able to apply for scholarships to help with your study costs.
Applicants must have one of the following:
- a Bachelor degree with First Class Honours or Second Class Honours (Division A) or equivalent, or
- a Masters degree (with a significant research component), or
- other qualifications and/or experiences equivalent to a minimum Second Class Honours (Division A), as deemed appropriate by the respective faculty.
Normally, all students will be enrolled as provisional candidates, with their status being reviewed through the Confirmation of Candidature process. Student are expected to complete the Confirmation of Candidature within 12 months full-time, or 24 months part-time enrolment. The Confirmation of Candidature process consists of two components:
- a written document; and
- an oral presentation to a review panel leading to a recommendation on Confirmation of Candidature.
English Language Requirements
You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements. This program requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.
Pathway programs are also available if you don't meet the English entry requirements mentioned above.
