Are you enthusiastic about passing on your expert knowledge? Do you enjoy working with adolescents? As a secondary school teacher you will have the power to make a difference in the lives of young people from Years 7 to 12. USQ Secondary Education programs will prepare you to teach in two subject areas. You’ll study specific discipline courses in your two chosen teaching areas in your Education studies. You’ll also be able to enhance your employability and job readiness through various professional activities and industry networking opportunities. If you already have a Bachelor degree in an area other than Education, you can draw upon your existing knowledge to become a teacher in just 18 months. 

Postgraduate internship program

Want a chance to receive $20,000 to cover study expenses, a second-year paid internship on fulltime salary, and an offer of permanent employment upon graduation?

USQ is one of only two universities in Queensland to offer prospective students eligible for the Master of Learning and Teaching (Secondary) the opportunity to apply for the government’s Turn to Teaching Internship Program. Find out if you can apply for this opportunity at the Department of Education website. Applications for the 2022 Turn to Teaching Internship Program are open until 31 October 2021.
