Arts and Humanities

  • Study an 8-unit or 12-unit major in Criminology and Criminal Justice and contribute to the long-term improvement of societies and economies, both local and international. 
  • USQ is the only university offering criminology and criminal justice studies in the Toowoomba, Ipswich and Springfield regions. 
  • Learn about current crime intervention and prevention strategies through the criminal justice system and external agencies, and benefit from opportunities to engage with professionals working within the criminal justice sector and associated agencies.
  • Combine with other majors in the Bachelor of Arts or within another study area to tailor your ideal career path.

Business and Management

  • Are you ready to move up and become a strategic leader? If so, our new Master of Business Administration (MBA) could be the degree you’ve been waiting for.
  • Offered in short, stackable online blocks, this MBA allows you to study at your own pace and convenience, or fast-track your studies to get your qualification in 12 months full-time.
  • The degree has been designed to shift your thinking from operational to strategic, and provide you with the tools to advance your career and deliver value to your organisation.
  • Engage with industry sectors that drive economic productivity for the nation; in agriculture, tourism, mining, health and education.
  • Use this Graduate Diploma as a stepping-stone in developing your strategic leadership and management skills.
  • Become more than an operational manager and apply business and leadership knowledge to a range of real-life contexts through problem-based assessment scenarios.
  • Once you successfully complete this degree, if you meet the entry requirements, you will be offered the option to articulate to the Master of Business Administration.
  • Want to explore your strategic thinking? Through engagement with industry representatives and experiential learning curriculum, our new Graduate Certificate in Business Administration will get you started. A qualification in strategic leadership and management can have a significant impact and competitive advantage on your career.
  • Upon completion of this degree, if you meet the entry requirements, you can articulate into the Graduate Diploma of Business Administration and, dependent on outcomes, further to the Master of Business Administration.

Education and Teaching

  • If you have a bachelor degree in any field other than education and want to become a registered teacher specialising in the development and care of children from birth to eight years, USQ’s Master of Learning and Teaching (Early Years) will get you there.
  • Be equipped with a comprehensive understanding of education designed to give children a strong start in their learning development.
  • Gain an extensive understanding of the early years of education in pre-school and primary school contexts through 75 days of supervised professional experience placements.
  • If you have a bachelor degree in a field other than education and want to become a registered primary teacher, the Master of Learning and Teaching (Primary) is for you.
  • Gain an extensive understanding of primary school teaching through 60 days of supervised professional experience placements and work-integrated service learning.
  • You will be equipped with the skills and confidence to teach across all learning areas of the primary school curriculum with a specialised focus on English Literacy. 
  • A Master of Learning and Teaching (Secondary) will equip you with the teaching methods, knowledge and confidence to work, inspire and educate adolescents and young adults.
  • If you have a bachelor degree in a field other than education, this degree enables you to become a registered secondary school teacher, in two teaching areas based on your previous tertiary qualifications.
  • Gain an extensive understanding of secondary school teaching through 60 days of supervised professional experience placements and work-integrated service learning.

Media and Communication

  • Blend a passion for creativity, design and information technology into a qualification to prepare you for future digital and global demand.
  • USQ’s Bachelor of Design and Interactive Technologies explores cutting-edge interactive and digital technologies, and develops your practical skills and analytical thinking in a range of disciplinary areas.
  • Through real-world practical projects in digital media production, apps development, game environment production, and augmented/virtual reality systems, you will develop the innovative skills required for entry and success in these emerging and exciting fields.
  • Love movies, and interested in making your own? Want to break into the exciting global film and TV industry?
  • USQ’s Bachelor of Film and Screen Production allows you to develop high-level professional skills in film direction, producing, camera, sound, lighting, editing, digital composing, post-production, scriptwriting and visual effects.
  • Benefit from work placement opportunities, master classes, mentoring programs and guest lectures with film and screen production experts, and have the opportunity to submit your films to national and international film festivals.
  • Through USQ’s state-of-the-art studio facilities and collaboration with many major broadcasters and production houses, USQ’s Bachelor of Television and Radio Production will provide the necessary skills in traditional broadcast television or radio as well as streaming, podcasting, and live presentations via social media.
  • These core skills and hands-on experiences in the sector will open pathways to work in this exciting global industry.

Nursing and Allied Health

  • Study public health and make a difference in local and global communities to address social, cultural, economic and environmental health issues.
  • 200 hours of industry placements provide a rich learning experience that will see you ideally positioned to grasp employment opportunities with your own emerging networks of colleagues.
  • Explore epidemiology, social and behavioural determinants of health, health systems, environmental and physical determinants of health, as well as health promotion. The flexibility of the Master of Public Health allows you to tailor a career path based on your needs and interests.

A Graduate Diploma of Public Health and a Graduate Certificate of Public Health are also available as individual qualifications or as stepping stones into the Masters degree.

Visual and Performing Arts

  • Australia's Social Assistance industries, such as social work, aged care, youth work, human services, hospitals/allied health etc. are due to expand at double the pace of all other industries over the next five years*. As creative artists, you can play a strong role in these industries to improve the lives of individuals and families, and enrich their communities. 
  • USQ’s new Bachelor of Creative Arts and Community Wellbeing will expand your creativity, facilitation and leadership skills, as well as your understanding of the needs of community care and development. 
  • You’ll have the opportunity to undertake a project placement in a community organisation during your third year.

  • From digital artistic collaborations through to teaching music lessons via Skype, USQ’s Bachelor of Music acknowledges that today’s musician will be globally connected.
  • The degree teaches contemporary popular music but also engages technologies, particularly in recording and production, with great attention to developing a sustainable, ongoing practice for graduates.
