Overview

Astronomy aims to understand our universe using observations, experiments, and theoretical and numerical studies. Astronomy is a discipline that relies on the innovative application of physics, whilst drawing on a number of other scientific and technological disciplines.

USQ’s astronomical and space sciences courses and programs enable students to survey the state of modern astronomy and of physics, develop professional knowledge and skills in stellar astrophysics, planetary science, solar physics, space science and physics, obtain research project experience, and graduate with widely useful scientific, numerical and critical analysis skills.

USQ's on-campus observatory, modern remote-access telescopes at Mt Kent Observatory and high-performance computing facilities. Observe both northern and southern skies using USQ’s Shared Skies Partnership with the University of Louisville in the USA. USQ’s teaching staff have national recognition for their astronomy education initiatives.

World class researchers involved in leading international collaborations in the field of stellar astronomy and planetary systems.
