The workshops at are designed for Years 9, 10 and 11 with an interest in Science.

The workshop provides students with the opportunity to act as members of a Disease Outbreak Rapid Response Team.  They will investigate to find what type of pathogen is causing the disease and how it is transmitted.

The goal of the workshop is to allow students from regional areas to access advanced biotechnology by undertaking experiments based around DNA extractions  Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), electrophoresis, staining and microscopy.

There is no charge for students to attend the workshops, however, transport to and from USQ would need to be organised and paid by your school/college.  Students would need to provide their morning tea and lunch.
