Science and Engineering Challenge (Cancelled)

Due to the Australian Government's latest advice, unfortunately this event has now been cancelled. We are communicating with schools which had already registered and will notify them of this decision.
When
19 - 22 MAY 2020
Where
Refectory, USQ Toowoomba

Please note registrations have now been filled.  If you would like your school to be added to the waiting list, please email outreach.events@usq.edu.au.

The Darling Downs Science and Engineering Challenge is held at USQ each year and allows Year 9 and 10 students to engage in a set of fun and competitive activities involving principles of science, engineering and technology. The Challenge:

  • provides students with a challenge and a selection of materials to complete the set task
  • immediately engages students in activities with a minimum of introduction and theory
  • allows students to explore scientific principles for themselves rather than being guided to a predetermined answer.

2020 Dates

In 2020, the Challenge will be held over the following four days:

  • Tuesday 19 May
  • Wednesday 20 May
  • Thursday 21 May
  • Friday 22 May

Each day, eight different schools will compete against each other. At the end of the four days, the team with the most points will receive a trophy and go on to compete at the State Final 'Super Challenge'.
