About the Workshop

The primary aim of this workshop is learning to work with spontaneity, artistic independence, with application of creative writing.

Beginning to work with charcoal, developing line and tonal values, DJW will teach you to effectively seal the charcoal artwork allowing layers of coloured glaze, applied over the abstracted black and white, to explore implied mood, using reference.

Our second major work will be abstract expressionism using and understanding the power of colour and stroke.

Through the workshop we will transform old paintings into major works. (DO NOT paint or gesso over old work, it must be complete! Must be watercolour or acrylic NOT OIL).

These techniques will be applied together to create your major piece on canvas. Throughout the workshop we will be discussing composition and balance whilst working with spontaneity to give your paintings an exciting freedom, movement and emotion.
