About the Workshop

In this hand building workshop you will be guided step by step through the process to create your very own ceramic figure. Using a porcelaneous stoneware paper clay you will design the figure, coil the body, make a pinch pot for the head, add facial features and use various techniques to add further details. Several techniques will be learnt to create and decorate your own figure. Finally, complete your creation with glaze and discuss the various methods for using under-glazes, oxides and glazes.

Create your own figure like Clairy’s Lil Babes, a series of one-off figurines, which are her signature. Small girls adorned with rosy cheeks, pink lips and petal crowns, they appear like delicate nymphs from another world. But look closer and you’ll see the inquisitiveness in their wide-eyed gaze, their expectant faces and open hands. They are like Alice at the tea party, curious and animated by the thought of what may lie ahead.
