The School of Law and Justice at the University of Southern Queensland invites you to the Environment and Human Rights: Legal Paradigms Symposium.

The symposium considers challenges that arise in relation to the environment and human rights and the laws and policies that affect them.

There is a clear link between human rights and the environment. Environmental problems such as pollution, climate change and land degradation engage economic, social, and cultural rights, including rights to health, clean air and water.

  • Does humanity have the right to a safe, clean, healthy and sustainable environment?
  • What challenges do societies face to achieve a better future for humans and the environment?
  • One point of consensus is that we face great challenges in balancing the needs of society with environmental protection imperatives. How will developments relating to human rights intersect with environmental policy-making?
